Currently the "bar is closed" for at least small boats, so it's unlikely there will be a race, due to being down to only two boats. Given the rain and high swell, I don't believe the odds of just going sailing are very good either. I'm telling my Valley crew to stay home. There will still be a meeting around 11am in case a miracle occurs.
Our next effort at getting in our first race of the season is this Saturday, May 1. The weather looks mild mid week so maybe the swell will subside. Let's hope the next big system fails to arrive before Saturday! It would be great if any skippers can let me know if they're unavailable.
Sat N wind 15 to 20 kt. Wind waves 3 ft... building to 5 ft. Swell NW 7 ft.
The weather is looking pretty good for a race! Now we have to hope we get the three boat minimum for a race, and there's the potential problem of the Chetco flow being too high to get home, which depends on the rain over the next two days, which also looks promising.
Sat N wind 10 to 15 kt. Wind waves 2 ft or less...becoming 3 to 4 ft in the afternoon. Swell NW 6 ft.
Well, the ocean conditions look great for a race, but the wind looks like it might be from all directions at once, and light. Currently, I have no confirmed racers (except myself) so once again, it will come down to the Skippers Meeting as to whether there's a race. The larger boats are confirmed no-shows, so there won't be very many crew spots available if the smaller boats in the fleet do proceed.
Sat NE wind 5 kt...backing to SW in the morning...then... veering to W early in the afternoon...veering to NW late in the afternoon. Wind waves 2 ft or less. Swell NW 6 ft at 10 seconds. Slight chance of showers.
Well, I guess there isn't going to be a race this weekend as it has been rescheduled for next weekend.
