Third Annual CCYC Crab Feed
March 25, 2006

What a success!! Around 70 Club members and their guests turned out to enjoy the third annual Crab Feed.  Temperatures were mild and the rain eased just as the festivities began.

250 pounds of crab were cooked by our master crab chefs Leroy Blodgett and Harry Hall and then backed and cleaned by the cleaning crew, David Fuller, Pablo Uribe and Ken Thompson.

Two large tables were completely filled with pot luck dishes. Mike Blank's chowder was among the first to disappear. Trish Blasdell used the oven in her motor home and her barbeque to ensure a steady supply of warm bread and melted butter. Dana Thompson served up chili and soup as people came through the line and

Judie Hanson managed the money box.  Steve Blasdell made the rounds with the 50/50 tickets and sold $172.  Near the end of the evening birthday girl, Wendy Huber, drew the winning ticket which was held by her husband Doyne, who took home $86.

We sang "Happy Birthday" to Wendy and she blew out her candles.

Many membership applications were distributed throughout the evening to our sailing class attendees and to member guests.  Several have already been returned and will be voted on at our next general membership meeting in April. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the city of Brookings for the loan of their tables for the event.  If you took photos during the evening, be sure to forward them to Ken so he can get them posted.
